Acupuncture

침술

Careful, evidence-based treatment using modern techniques and single-use sterile needles.

Essence · 本

Acupuncture is the oldest medicine we still practice, and one of the most studied. Hair-thin needles at specific points along the body's meridians and motor lines. Used alone, or alongside cupping, electro-stimulation, and gua sha when the case calls for it.

Most first-time patients are surprised by two things. How thin the needles are, finer than a strand of hair. And how quickly the body responds. A held shoulder lets go. A tight low back exhales. Sleep that has been broken for months returns.

Our acupuncturists are trained in both traditional Eastern medicine and modern, science-based techniques. We palpate, we consult, and we carefully map the points on your body. Then the needles are placed, gently, one at a time. The room is quiet, the light kept low for rest. We check in on you throughout. Most sessions run 45–60 minutes.

What to expect

From first visit
to plan.

We don't surprise you. Every patient gets the same four-beat rhythm, even when the treatment inside it changes session to session.

  1. 01
    Consultation
We listen deeply, to your words, and to what your body tells us. We take time to understand why your body is responding the way it is, not just where it hurts. While the paperwork takes only a few minutes, the rest of our time together is a true conversation.
  2. 02
    Treatment plan
We propose a course of care that fits the pattern we found. You're never locked in. Re-assessment is built into every visit.
  3. 03
    Treatment
Once the needles are in, you'll settle into a state of deep relaxation, many patients even drift into a restful sleep, allowing the body's natural systems to reset and heal. Depending on what you need, we may add electro-acupuncture, cupping, or gua sha. Most people doze off.
  4. 04
    Aftercare
Water. Light walking. We tell you what to expect in the next 24 hours. Most patients feel a mild high, and sleep deeply.

How we work

Quietly, slowly,
and on time.

Care is a craft, not a transaction. We care for each patient with depth and genuine attention. The first treatment includes a consultation and assessment. Appointments end when the work is complete, not when the timer runs out.

One practitioner. One pair of hands. One thread of attention. If you’ve ever felt rushed through treatment elsewhere, you’ll notice the difference within the first ten minutes here.

"I haven't been able to sleep well lately, so my shoulders and neck felt really tight. Massages didn't work, so I met Neo after long searching. Neo has really helped me through many sessions. His acupuncture has made a real difference."

Common questions

Acupuncture,
answered.

Is acupuncture covered by ICBC?

Yes. Acupuncture is part of ICBC's approved care for motor-vehicle injuries, and we direct-bill ICBC for you. Most claimants pay little to no out-of-pocket cost, and we can confirm your coverage before your first visit.

Can I use my extended health benefits?

Most extended health plans cover acupuncture, and we direct-bill the full amount to the major providers. Call or email us and we'll run your plan before you book.

Does acupuncture hurt?

The needles are hair-thin and single-use. Most people feel a brief, mild sensation as a point is activated, then settle into a relaxed state for the rest of the session. If anything is uncomfortable, tell your practitioner and they adjust.

How many sessions will I need?

It depends on your condition and how long you have had it. Your practitioner talks through a realistic plan at the first visit and adjusts as you go. Acute issues often need fewer visits than long-standing ones.

Do I need a referral?

No referral is needed to book acupuncture with us. For an ICBC claim you will have a claim number from ICBC, and we handle the billing from there.

What can acupuncture help with?

We most often see chronic and acute pain, sports and work injuries, tension and stress, headaches, sleep, and motor-vehicle-injury recovery. Browse our conditions library for the full list, and if you are not sure whether we can help, ask us and we'll be honest about it.

Do you offer acupuncture at both clinics?

Yes. You can book acupuncture in Downtown Vancouver or in Langley. The two clinics keep different hours, so choose the one that fits your week.
