Acupuncture for insomnia

Sleep isn't a problem to force — it's a state the body returns to when it feels safe. Acupuncture helps create the conditions for it.

Understanding it

Insomnia is rarely a stand-alone problem — it usually grows from something else: stress, an over-active mind, pain, hormones, or a disrupted rhythm. Forcing sleep or relying on sleep aids treats the surface, not the cause.

Acupuncture works by calming the nervous system and addressing what's keeping you awake. Many patients fall asleep faster and wake less within a few weeks — our case notes regularly show exactly that.

What we see

Symptoms we treat

If any of these sound like your experience, acupuncture is worth a conversation. This isn't a diagnosis — your first visit is.

01
Hard to fall asleep
Lying awake for an hour or more at bedtime.
02
Frequent waking
Waking through the night and struggling to resettle.
03
Early waking
Waking too early and unable to fall back asleep.
04
Unrefreshing sleep
Sleeping hours yet never feeling rested.
05
Racing mind at night
Thoughts that speed up the moment the lights go off.
06
Daytime fatigue
Tiredness, irritability and poor focus during the day.
How it helps

Why acupuncture works here

Three layers at once — local, segmental, and central — chosen for what your body is asking for.

Calms the system
Acupuncture calms an over-active nervous system and quiets the mental "on switch" that keeps you awake.
Lifts mood & tension
Treatment releases tension and regulates the stress hormones that disrupt the natural drift into sleep.
Restores sleep
By treating the root — stress, pain, or rhythm — sleep returns on its own. Herbal medicine often deepens and sustains the result.
What to expect

From first visit to plan

Every patient gets the same unhurried four-beat rhythm — the first visit includes a complimentary consultation.

01
Consultation
We listen, palpate, and map the pattern — not just where it hurts, but why.
02
Treatment plan
A course of care that fits your pattern. You're never locked in; we re-assess each visit.
03
Treatment
Gentle needling, often with cupping or electro-acupuncture. Most patients deeply relax.
04
Aftercare
Simple homecare and what to expect next. We coordinate with RMT or kinesiology when it helps.
